Celebrates the arrival of summer with Première Bulle Sparkling

If you are a fan of festive aperitif, you know clearly Première Bulle Sparkling. Elegant blend of Mauzac, Chenin and Chardonnay grapes, delicate mousse and vibrant bubbles are a perfect companion for party evenings. (Or any evening, actually!)

What is Première Bulle Sparkling?

This delicious blanquette de limoux is made according to the old method – the bubbles form naturally in the bottle thanks to an ingenious process which involves turning the bottle on itself during aging to reactivate the yeasts and form the bubbles. It is the monks of Limoux who discovered this process, moving lots of bottles of white wine during the cleaning of the cellar of a monastery. It is from this story that the name of this charming bottle was born.

A night with Première Bulle Sparkling!

Last Tuesday, we were lucky enough to be invited to attend the launch of the YUL Mule, the cocktail of the summer 2017 of Première Bulle Sparkling. Prepared with care by the Atelier et Saveurs team, it combines the freshness of the bubbles and the delicate taste of fruits and ginger. It is a delight that recalls a little “pimpée” version of a mimosa. 1642 Soda was also present to present the mocktail version of the Yul Mule, which replaces the bubbles with ginger ale.

YUL Mule recipe with Première Bulle Sparkling

Ingrédients

  • 0.5 oz of lemon juice
    0.5 oz of ginger syrup
    1 branch of thyme
    2 oz pineapple juice
    2 oz of mango nectar
    3 oz of Première Bulle Sparkling or ginger soda 1642 for the mocktail version

Preparation

    • Put all the ingredients in a shaker – EXCEPT the Première Bulle Sparkling.
    • Add ice and mix for 8 to 10 seconds.
    • Filter the mixture into a colander and pour into a wine glass.
    • Add some ice cubes
    • Add the Première Bulle Sparkling for the version with Alcohol or the soda 1642 with the ginger for the mocktail version.

Quebec lives a great love story with this blanquette. It is one of the first sparkling wines to have been very successful in SAQ. No wonder to see him everywhere in the brunches and at the aperitifs with friends! The next time you hear the “Pop” of a bottle of Première Bulle Sparkling and you startle, have a thought for the monks of Limoux who must have had a little the same reaction!
