With Valentine\u2019s Day fast approaching, I wanted to tie in with the famous \u201cGalentine\u2019s Day\u201d to create its gentleman\u2019s version with \u201cGentletine\u2019s Day.\u201d I say the word \u201ccreate\u201d humbly, as I couldn\u2019t find anything on this term during my research, and what describes itself as \u201cPalentine\u2019s Day\u201d didn\u2019t match my initial idea. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Gentletine’s Day?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Don’t believe I think men deserve to be celebrated more for their achievements in society. Instead, I applaud women for their efforts in breaking down barriers and shattering glass ceilings. I support the idea of challenging traditional norms and promoting greater equality, rather than allowing the status quo to prevail, as is often the case in many countries around the world. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In contrast, I believe that men should engage in conversations with each other. There must be a valid explanation for the distressing trend of many men who mistreat, marginalize, and disregard women. Jean-Nicolas Verrreault, an actor and host, discussed this issue in the documentary \u201cLes gars, faut qu\u2019on se parle\u201d on the Noovo channel (in French).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concept of the Gentletine\u2019s Day emerged as a way to honour the gentlemen in our lives. It could be celebrated in the days leading up to Valentine\u2019s Day for those in relationships, or even on the day itself, regardless of your own plans or those of your friends. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does it all work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We would like to celebrate gentlemen, so, yes, ladies, you\u2019re invited. However, please don\u2019t monopolize the evnt; the Gentletine\u2019s Day is an occasion for men to talk, listen, share and enjoy an amazing night, brunch or afternoon.  <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aperitif<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Start with a delicious ros\u00e9 champagne. Ros\u00e9 is not just for women; it\u2019s a sophisticated champagne that requires a lot of work. Try Bollinger Ros\u00e9 (Grande Ann\u00e9e or Ros\u00e9 Brut), Telmont<\/a> Ros\u00e9, Mo\u00ebt & Chandon Ros\u00e9 (Imp\u00e9rial or Grand Vintage), Dom P\u00e9rignon or the famous Laurent-Perrier Cuv\u00e9e Brut Ros\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re looking for a locally produced effervescent rose, consider the Domaine Bergeville<\/a> Ros\u00e9 from Qu\u00e9bec, or the Limestone Spark! Ros\u00e9 from Tawse<\/a> are two excellent options. Serve this elixir with a luxurious foie gras on delicious brioche bread. Why not add a touch of caviar and oysters? This is a refined celebration where you want to be in a pleasant atmosphere so that tongues can loosen and open and talk to each other. So indulge a little more while remaining in moderation. Be sure to plan your ride home, too. After all, it\u2019s a special occasion, so make it memorable, but also enjoyable. If you\u2019ve consumed too much alcohol, refrain from driving.   <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the main meal, a duck breast will be incredible. Indulge yourself with a generous portion of buttery and creamy potatoes. Alternatively, opt for a colossal cut of meat, such as a \u201cTomahawk\u201d, ensuring you have the necessary equipment to grill it to perfection. Don\u2019t forget the vegetables. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cooking is an activity that can bring great pleasure, especially when you can speak freely. To enhance this experience, we recommend a top-quality red wine, such as Stratus, Clos Jordanne or Le Grand Vin d\u2019Osoyoos Larose from Canada, a Tignanello, Sassicaia or Ornellia from Italy, or a Petrus, Cos d\u2019Estournel, Lafitte Rothschild or Ch\u00e2teau Latour from France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dessert<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s return to the rose sparkling wine that we previously mentioned, or perhaps a rose ice wine, such as the outstanding Stratus variety. Alternatively, you could opt for a liqueur, such as Grand Marnier, or a cognac, like R\u00e9my Martin XO or Hennessy XO. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to dessert, if you choose ros\u00e9 sparkling wine, opt for a dessert that features a red fruit flavour, such as raspberry or a dish that will enhance the fruit\u2019s freshness and add a touch of sophistication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you choose liquors, consider indulging in a rich and decadent dessert, such as a creamy chocolate mousse or a velvety French Mi-Cuit Chocolate Cake.     <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conclusion of the meal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this case, we propose a triumphant duo: Scotch and a cigar. The cigar is optional for those who don\u2019t smoke, but it can be a very pleasant addition on special occasions.   <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A gentlemen decor to celebrate Gentletine’s Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yes, we\u2019re close to Valentine\u2019s Day, but we don\u2019t want the decor to be too feminine, so go for dark reds and Burgundies, whether in the tablecloths, the flowers (yes, men can give each other flowers) or the balloons. Don\u2019t be too extravagant, decorate with class, and don\u2019t let your red colour palette explode. You can, however, celebrate with accessories in these tones on your plates, although serving on a white plate with a coloured one underneath is even better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In short, I think you understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dress to impress! Opt for a sharp suit and a dapper tie, polished shoes, and a well-kept appearance. Make it a memorable occasion and incorporate these guidelines.<\/a> You can even assign your Gentletine\u2019s Day a theme, such as a James Bond-inspired or any other gentlemanly film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No cell phones, no digital watches. This is an opportunity to talk to each other. If you want photos, bring a camera. It\u2019ll keep you off the grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What topics should be discussed?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Many men struggle to communicate openly and share their thoughts. To overcome this challenge, it\u2019s essential to create a lively and lighthearted environment where any topic is fair game. Consider a word game that allows participants to discuss sensitive subjects in a more enjoyable context. Share personal experiences and anecdotes that relate to the subject matter. Engage in debates about political viewpoints and exchange ideas. While you may not always see eye-to-eye, finding common ground is possible. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Above all, support each other. Say that you want to help your friends find a solution. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gentletine\u2019s Day is a celebration should be enjoyable and produce positive outcomes. It\u2019s not just about sharing food and drink; it\u2019s more than that. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
