But what about the other two hands on this album? Lara Somogyi is a harpist based in Los Angeles and a performer and composer of contemporary classical music, whom I didn\u2019t know. She is renowned for her work with electronics and pedal effects, constantly seeking to forge a new artistic identity for the harp, her signature instrument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Listen to the album while your read the article<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border-radius: 12px;\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/album\/0rdKdgO7a9a8u33CrOYEEI?utm_source=generator\" width=\"100%\" height=\"352\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe>You can tell from the first notes of <em>D\u00e9sert<\/em> that Jean-Michel Blais\u2019s talents as a multi-instrumentalist composer on <em>aubades<\/em> have taken him to a whole new level, almost to excellence. The perfect blend of piano and harp, two instruments that go together, like milk and coffee in a cappuccino, so much in unison that you sometimes wonder which notes are ringing in your ears when you listen to some of D\u00e9sert\u2019s pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This album reflects a sense of plenitude and zenitude, a welcome peace at a time when the two artists\u2019 countries of origin have been at loggerheads in recent months. Although the album is entitled <em>D\u00e9sert<\/em> because it was produced in the desert, it is so soothing and comforting that it sometimes feels like you\u2019re at the water\u2019s edge.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The \u201cJean-Michel Blais\u201d sound is back<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gBz5YnlV9pY?si=3hWrVPsFeOFTmhgm\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We missed it, of course. But over the course of the eleven tracks on the album, you quickly recognize the \u201cJean-Michel Blais\u201d sound, the sound of the living piano, the resonance box and the notes vibrating in the raw way that only he knows how (especially in the \u201cescaliers\u201d track, which sounds similar to some of the virtuoso\u2019s previous albums), as if you were with them in the intimacy of their studio. A beautiful echo of the spring that\u2019s just waking up. Listen to it over and over until Jean-Michel Blais\u2019s next solo album, with this new record, looks promising once again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a
