Discover the first collaboration between RIMOWA and Adidas including the first aluminium backpack and shoe.
Article published on | 3 minutes of readingIt was to be expected. After Porsche, it’s another all-German collaboration for RIMOWA. This time, it is with the sports equipment manufacturer Adidas for an exclusive collaboration. While both brands are recognized as leaders in innovation, both in fashion and in the technologies used in their products, RIMOWA and Adidas celebrate the spirit of mobility with a first capsule collection that offers the urban traveller the tools to navigate the city and cross its borders. Personally, I love to see collaborations that bring the greatest in companies and it seems that what we have in this one.

Although the luggage company has a factory in Canada, this collection is entirely developed and designed in Germany. In this collaborative collection, the two brands offer two products that will appeal to the most contemporary of you: RIMOWA’s first ever aluminium backpack and the ADIDAS NMD S1 shoe.

This outdoor-inspired capsule in khaki and frosted titanium is punctuated with orange accents. Echoing a constant need for fulfilment through travel, the collection has been designed for the urban explorer who seeks to reconnect with nature in a meaningful way. Discover the collection in detail.

The aluminium backpack is the result of new technical advances that make it suitable for wide open spaces and overnight trips. Made from the company’s signature grooved aluminium, it offers features such as a handle, padded utility straps with carabiner and thumb loops or rope carrying straps. ADIDAS Boost-inspired foam ridges also cover the German brand’s signature grooved surface of the backpack for comfort, and an elastic strap running through its middle secures the backpack to the telescoping tubes of the suitcase handle. For flat storage, a detachable gusset reveals two deep zipped pockets, as well as a 16″ laptop pocket emblazoned with both brands’ logos.

Specifically designed for the discerning explorer, the Adidas NMD S1 is a modern lifestyle shoe that makes movement its credo. The collaboration version features the Primeknit upper of the futuristic shoe in a titanium-inspired colourway, with the soft ADIDAS Boost midsole in a clear, almost translucent colour. The midsole of the shoe features the brands’ respective German headquarters and a “Made in Germany” stamp that seals the partnership. NMD laces in a shade of orange complete the design.

The titanium-coloured shoe (€250 / $325 CAD) will be available from 17 November at adidas Confirmed and adidas.com, as well as in selected adidas shops and on RIMOWA.com. The backpack, also in titanium, (€1,500 / C$2,350) will be available in limited quantities at the brand’s flagship stores and online at RIMOWA.com and adidas.com.
