First, I must say that Jessica is a good friend. She is a successful entrepreneur and one of the best sommeliers in the country (she worked at Toqué in Montréal, Tetsuya’s in Sydney, and Charlie Trotter’s [two Michelin stars] in Chicago for several years).

She also served as a buyer of prestige wines for the Société des alcools de Québec (SAQ). She was in charge of the SAQ’s wine cellar, which at the time held more than 75,000 bottles from the collection, and of Courrier vinicole, the SAQ’s publication. During this period, she chaired the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers (CAPS) and served as vice president of the Pan-American Alliance of Sommeliers (APAS). She thus became one of the few women to have chaired an international sommelier association.

One of her greatest achievements was launching the Bù wine range in 2016 in partnership with the Arterra wine agency. These wines, available in grocery stores (and at the SAQ for the Bù Signature range), aim to democratize wine purchasing in grocery stores with quality products, and have been a great success. A woman of many talents, she has just launched a brand new book, Santé, Boire et Manger (Health, Drinking, and Eating) with Johana Monthuy-Blanc and Emie Therrien.

Le Club de Vins Jessica Harnois team, led by Mariève Isabel, has decided to reinvent the traditional wine course. You have access to 14 courses, each lasting approximately two hours, which you can take at your own pace from the comfort of your own home. Each course consists of three to six modules filled with a variety of educational content. As for in-person events, that’s what the Jessica Harnois Wine Club Wine Tasting Salon is all about. It takes place approximately once a month, from September to May, at Club St-Denis in Montréal, with occasional stops in Québec City at the Cercle de la Garnison.

As previously mentioned, this event has been held at the esteemed Club St-Denis (which we elaborate on in this article) for approximately two years. Masterfully orchestrated by sommelier Mélanie Frappier, this event is open to the general public, with a preference given to members of the Club de vins Jessica Harnois.

The event is usually very successful, with tickets selling out quickly. Tickets include unlimited tastings, so there is no need to purchase coupons. Food can be purchased as an option at an additional cost. For recent events and the one on May 29, this portion was provided by Fromagerie Anne et Frères cheese boutique, located in the Villeray neighbourhood.

Furthermore, as this is an opportunity to share, several door prizes will be presented to participants throughout the evening, including wines from the various producers in attendance and wine accessories from their partner, Vinum.
