High-End Experiences in Gaspésie: Exceptional Places to Discover
When we think of Gaspésie, we often picture its breathtaking landscapes, charming villages, and fresh seafood. Yet, High-End Experiences in Gaspésie do exist. Though more discreet than in major cities, certain artisans, restaurateurs, and hoteliers embody refinement, authenticity, and quality. Here is a curated selection of addresses that reflect the region’s high-end side, from fine gastronomy and artisanal products to luxury accommodations and unique experiences.
High-End Fine Products in Gaspésie
Here, it’s not necessarily the on-site experience that makes these places part of the High-End Experiences in Gaspésie, but rather the exceptional quality of the products they offer.
Monsieur Émile Smokehouse — Art of smoking salmon

I have to admit that I’m a bit partial to the latter, as it runs in my distant family. But it’s probably the best smoked salmon in Québec. It’s home-made. The salmon is local; it doesn’t come from Chile like some Quebec brands. In short, they do things right, which is why its price is a little higher than others. Don’t hesitate to buy it in grocery shops to remind you of one of the High-End Experiences in Gaspésie.

Couleur Chocolat — An economuseum worthy of the great European chocolate factories
I haven’t been there for lack of time, but my friend Manon from the website la petite bette recommends this economuseum, which has nothing to envy the big European chocolate shops. This product needs to be in your pantry. . . although it may not be there for long. So order online today! Certainly one of the High-End Experiences in Gaspésie to not miss.

Poissonnerie Lelièvre Lelièvre et Lemoignan Fish market — Outstanding seafood products

Although a fish market may not be the most upscale of establishments, the quality of the products is undeniable. From fresh-caught fish to canned goods (Chasse-marée, etc.), the offerings are top-notch. It’s no wonder that several fish markets in Québec Province and elsewhere get their supply here. So if you’re looking for a way to liven up your next meal while visiting Percé, stop by.

High-End Hotels and Accommodations in Gaspésie
This is the poor side of the region, which specializes in more affordable motels and chalets. On the other hand, there are some nuggets to be found.
Gîte du Mont-Albert — Quiet luxury in the heart of the Parc national de la Gaspésie

I was lucky enough to be invited for one night to what is probably the High-End Experiences in Gaspésie in therm of hotels in the Gaspésie, or not far from it. I’ll tell you more about it in an article this autumn, but the evening meal at this hotel in the middle of the Parc de la Gaspésie is a delight, despite a few things that annoyed me, which I’ll come back to later. The comfort of the room and the quality of the materials, in short, this really is the perfect place to relax. Book quickly for this autumn.

High-End Restaurants in Gaspésie
A few High-End Experiences in Gaspésie make it worth stopping off to discover the local gastronomy in all its flavours. Here are a few that we were lucky enough to try.
La Maison du Pêcheur — Gastronomic institution in Percé

It’s probably the busiest restaurant on the Gaspé Peninsula, perhaps even in Québec Province. Its reputation is well established. The quality of the food is excellent, and the renovations have greatly helped to keep the restaurant protected from the high tides. Despite the delicious cuisine, the service may not be up to par due to the high volume of patrons. From the moment the doors open until they close, there is a constant stream of 20–30 people, along with booked tables. Due to this phenomenon, certain menu items, particularly seasonal desserts, tend to disappear quickly every evening.

Cantine Côtière — The new chic of lobster roll

This is the upscale seafood shack of renowned chef Colombe St-Pierre, located in Bas-Saint-Laurent, at the gateway to Gaspésie. It has become an essential stop for those seeking high-end dining in Eastern Québec. Be prepared to pay prices similar to seafood shacks along the coast of Maine, even though we are in Québec. Portions are generous, and the variations on the lobster roll are both creative and deeply rooted in local flavours. That said, the bill is on the higher side—expect to pay close to a hundred dollars (taxes included) for two lobster rolls and fries. This is definitely an High-End Experiences in Gaspésie

Refined Cafés and Delicacies
Specialty cafés have often delighted French tourists in the region. Some have disappeared due to a lack of newcomers or visitors, but others have taken over, hopefully for many years to come.
Tempête Café — Artisanal coffee shop nestled in the heart of Percé.

A great discovery in Percé. The coffee here is simply incredible. Over the years, many shops have disappeared in the tourist capital of the Gaspésie. However, some little gems have taken over, like Tempête Café, proving that visitors’ demand for coffee can be satisfied. Another great High-End Experiences in Gaspésie.

Mich Café — Perfect espresso and gourmet sandwichs
If you follow the queue, you’ll find yourself at Mich Café, renowned for its sandwiches and coffee made with a La Marzocco, certainly one of the only ones in the Gaspé. The coffee is perfect, the staff are friendly, and the sandwiches and cookies are delicious. What more could you ask for? Oh yes, you can even buy coffee to take home.

Aux glaces de l’Anse — Master ice-cream maker trained by a Maître Ouvrir de France (MOF)

What a delight this place is; the quality and finesse of the products are incredible, and the choice of flavours is really interesting! You leave feeling full. Not to mention the inviting selection of desserts. Co-owner Chantal Otis trained as a Master Ice Cream Maker with Roland Del Monte, Meilleur Ouvrier de France and formerly of the Renoir at the Sofitel Carré Doré. Discover one of his recipes here.

Boulangerie artisanale La Pétrie bakery — Meticulously baked bread and pastries

I still remember their coated white square bread, what a delight, not to mention their Swiss croissant, so generous with chocolate. In short, you must stop here, even if parking can be a bit tricky. Your stomach will thank you.

High-End Liquid Pleasures in Gaspésie
The pleasure of tasting Gaspésie in a glass. And taking a little of those unique tastes home to remember our escapade.
Distillerie des Marigots —The art of gin and spirits made in Gaspésie

What a wonderful place and what exquisite products! The saltiness of some of the spirits and the wide variety make this a must-see, top-of-the-range Gaspésie experience. What’s more, they are an excellent point of reference for other places to find fine products with their association with various businesses in the area, which is how we discovered the Boulangerie artisanale La Pétrie bakery.

Auval Brewing Co.
It’s probably one of the most sought-after microbreweries in Quebec, and there’s a reason for that. . . they take their time. Quality takes time to achieve, and it was the idea of Auval’s founder and brewer and cofounder of Pit Caribou, Benoit Couillard, to turn it into a project for the production of almost mythical craft beers, some of which are so hard to find. So don’t be surprised if there are no treasures left when you arrive. . .

High-End Experiences in Gaspésie
As well as fine food and accommodation, the Gaspésie also offers unique experiences that combine culture, nature and refinement. These sometimes unexpected discoveries illustrate that top-of-the-range is not limited to material luxury, but is also expressed in the beauty of the places and the richness of the emotions they arouse.
Jardins de Métis | Reford Gardens — Un écrin de nature et de raffinement
It’s not something you can buy and take home, but the Métis Gardens are an incredible place, with their large gardens and natural site that have been there for decades. It’s a peaceful oasis that’s a great way to spend a day on the Gaspé Peninsula.

These addresses show that top-of-the-range dining is alive and well in the Gaspésie, even if it is more discreet than in the major urban centres. Whether you’re sampling artisanal smoked salmon, staying in a luxury hotel or discovering a legendary brewery, the region offers unique experiences where quality and authenticity meet. It’s a holiday where luxury takes on a distinctly Gaspesian flavour.
