5th edition for Les Journées Particulières by LVMH: First time in Canada with RIMOWA
If you were in Paris this summer, you may have seen the advertisements announcing the 5th edition of Les Journées Particulières by LVM on October 14, 15 and 16, 2022, an event that invites you to discover the backstage of the LVMH group (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy), and for the first time, Canada participates with the visit of the RIMOWA factory, in Cambridge, Ontario.
Celebrating craft makers and artisans since 2011
Initiated in 2011 by Antoine Arnault, Image & Environment Division, LVMH, this free event, open to all and now worldwide, invites the general public behind the scenes of the Group’s Houses, in direct contact with the designers and craftsmen. The Journées Particulières are a unique opportunity to discover their exceptional know-how in the very places where their passion is practised: workshops, wine cellars, private mansions, family homes and historic boutiques.
This 5th edition will be marked by the participation of new Houses, such as Belmond Hotels, which will present several exhibitions of contemporary art in the gardens of its hotels in Italy, the châteaux of Esclans and Galoupet in Provence, Officine Universelle Buly, which will offer introductory workshops in calligraphy in its Parisian boutique as well as in Asia, and Tiffany & Co., which will open its design workshop in New York for the very first time.
Several historic participants will unveil new exclusive locations: Berluti will showcase its Grande Mesure Tailleur workshop in Paris, Moët & Chandon will welcome visitors to the Château de Saran, one of its beautifully restored iconic homes, Louis Vuitton will open the doors of its workshop in Vendôme or Rochambeau, Texas, and Chaumet will open the doors of 12 Vendôme, its historic townhouse, for the first time since its renovation in 2020.
5th edition for Les Journées Particulières by LVMH: The campaign
To mark the launch of this 5th edition of the Journées Particulières, Mr. Arnault, has lent himself to the game of a film, which invites us to discover the backstage of the Group’s Houses and what makes their magic, on October 14, 15 and 16.
5th edition of Les Journées Particulières by LVMH: In Canada
For the first time, the Special Days will be held in Canada. RIMOWA will be one of eight companies opening their factory doors for a limited time in North America, alongside many others around the world. Each brand will offer a series of workshops, tours and unique access to the craftsmanship, innovation and sustainability behind each of their products.
As the only RIMOWA factory with the technological expertise to produce aluminum and polycarbonate cases, RIMOWA will guide visitors through the 80% handcrafted manufacturing process of each of its core collections. Visitors may be surprised to learn and see that it takes an average of one and a half hour, 200 components and 90 steps to make a suitcase. A first-hand experience unlike any other, RIMOWA will also reveal some of its secrets, uncover rare archival pieces and showcase expert craftsmen in its suitcase repair workshop. If you’re passing through Cambridge, don’t forget to stop by Langdon Hall from experiencing the cuisine of the guest chef Jason Bangerter, feature in Gentologie Magazine Issue 10.
