Barbour and Baracuta: A first all-British collaboration!

An all-British collection between Barbour and Baracuta
This collaboration, which brings together two very British brands, celebrates Baracuta’s one and only original Harrington jacket, known worldwide as the G9. Born in Manchester in 1938, just one year after the brand was founded, 2023 marks its 85th anniversary. The collection reimagines this iconic style with Barbour’s signature details to create a contemporary interpretation of a much-loved classic, fusing heritage and modernity. With perfect synergy, the Barbour and Baracuta collaboration celebrates the quintessential British heritage of Baracuta with deep-rooted Barbour DNA and classic functional features to finish. This collection is so British that James Bond could wear it, he once wore a Barbour jacket in Skyfall!
The collection is inspired by the preppy “Ivy League” style, which gained momentum in the early 20th century. Initiated by America’s East Coast student elite, who wanted clothes that would take them from the classroom to the sports field, the style caught on with the British in the 1960s, who interpreted it and made it their own. The British “Ivy League” style was more chic and included new elements such as workwear, silk scarves and flat panelled caps. Paying homage to these ties, this collection presents three styles in different colours that embrace this concept.
Three jackets, three styles
In three distinctive outerwear styles, the jackets feature a striking combination of both bran ds signature tartans, the Barbour Classic Tartan and Baracuta Fodera Fraser Tartan lining.

Ian Bergin, Director of Menswear at Barbour explained, “It’s been a great pleasure to work with the Baracuta design team on developing this collaboration. The G9 with its umbrella yolk and Fraser tartan is a men’s classic; we have used that as the bedrock of the collection and fused that with iconic Barbour DNA in terms of our Barbour family Classic tartan and our all-weather 8 oz Oban wax cotton. Theidea was to create a small range of instant collectables and we worked with the Baracuta team to refine and perfect our ideas. The two brands working together is all about the correct approach to authenticity and relevance focusing on how iconic heritage brands interpret the past for a modern consumer.”
Baracuta added: “It’s been a natural match. We deeply respect Barbour’s history, heritage, commitment to craftsmanship and quality. Barbour’s products are known for their durability and style, with some being globally recognized as true icons of British fashion. We enjoyed working with the Barbour team, creating pieces that last for decades and pay tribute to the values we both cherish, while also blending the best of our two brands. We hope all Baracuta and Barbour fans will love this Limited Edition as much as we do. It’s a unique, distinguished, and modern collection of three collectibles that perfectly reflect Ivy Style inspiration.”
