MUST Griffintown Space: anchored in a vibrant neighbourhood

MUST Griffintown entrance

A lot has happened in this shop since it opened in 2021. Just like Peel Street, the shop has undergone a facelift, enlarging its surface area by two, and is now sporting a new name: we’ve dropped the Société for only MUST. So we had to update our article. Discover MUST Griffintown space, where different brands live together for a very pleasant living space.

Must Griffintown Space: A Must in Montréal

As I said earlier, this concept was, and still is, very different from what already exists in Montreal. We’re not talking about a “store in a store” à la Ogilvy/Holt Renfrew, but a homogenous, welcoming space designed with its future occupants in mind. The MUST Shop is a multitude of spaces that invite discovery: the group shops, MUST Jardin and MUST Collection, as well as Cuisine Steam, Prune les fleurs, La Bête à pain and ligne roset.

Many of you will be familiar with MUST line/collection, having already seen it while visiting a Maison Corbeil store in the same group. It’s a place where you can explore and discover new things for your home or condo (Griffintown is really more of this second option environment). You’ll find the best, and at a more-than-affordable price.

Whether you’re looking for the perfect table, an Ottoman or an Edison-style light fitting, you’re sure to find something to your liking. An added bonus in this shop is culinary accessories, an innovation at MUST. Whether it’s saucepans, cookware or Riedel wine glasses (have you had a look at our wine section?), you’ll find something to suit your taste, all presented in the beautiful surroundings of a Cuisines Steam kitchen.

As I just mentioned, the MUST Griffintown Space has a full-size kitchen, which is a strange addition considering that most condos have kitchens already included in their layouts, but it’s always interesting for those who want to change their look. This one is even more magnificent, as it allows you to see the tools in a living element.

La Bête à Pain: When good bread goes to Griffintown

For many years, I was a regular customer of La Bête à Pain bakery, located on Fleury Street, in Ahuntsic, in the north of the city. Every week, I looked forward to picking up my multigrain bread, which was a real ritual for me. If you visit any of their locations, including the one in MUST Griffintown Space, in the near future, I highly recommend you try this bread, which is simply delicious. What’s more, the place is absolutely gorgeous, and the viennoiseries are just as tasty. Grab a brioche and try our French toast recipe.

You have to admit that the addition of a bakery to a neighbourhood changes its whole dynamic: it’s fresh, it’s a place to make new discoveries, and so on. I could talk at length about the one that has just opened in my neighbourhood, but I’ll come back to that in another post. And by the way, La Bête à pain isn’t just a bakery, it’s sandwiches, salads, pastries and more. And all in a superb atmosphere. Enter from Peel Street, at 186, or Young Street, at 195.

Ligne Roset: A luminous space for design enthusiasts

When you set foot in the Roset space, the feeling is indescribable. The immensity of the space thanks to the very high ceilings and the luminosity that penetrates the space thanks to the huge windows in the rue Young entrance and the skylight in the MUST Griffintown Space.

It’s impossible not to be touched by the immense pieces that are found in the space, but always with perfect balance. The great brand of French design is really making its mark in this living space, giving it that streamlined feel that contrasts totally with the MUST Collection space.

Prune Les Fleurs: Seasonality at the service of beauty

Prune Les Fleurs is now a classic in Montréal and several other parts of Québec province, and even Toronto. The owner, Nadine Jazouli, is a very friendly and generous woman. The boutique’s philosophy of embracing the local and natural side of its products really makes all the difference to what you find there, and to those who receive them. It’s a passion that can’t be ignored. I really had a soft spot for this place and I’ve been there a few times. In this new, bigger space, you’ll find not only a wider range of plants and flowers, but also decorative vases and planters, home fragrances, soaps and a collection of small pieces of furniture. Everything you need to add a touch of nature to your new décor.

To finish, MUST Griffintown Space is a wonderful addition to the neighbourhood, a place to make discoveries for all your senses. Located at 186 Peel (or by the new entrance on Wellington) and at 195–197 Rue Young for Ligne Roset and La Bête à Pain.

Enjoy your discovery!
