Miraval Rosé – Côtes de Provence : A domain to taste!

Miraval Rosé Cover

To start the summer well (ok, we are still the spring and the temperature continues to play tricks), here is one of my favorite rosé , starting with the Miraval Rosé! Why? Because I’m a little tired of hearing you say that a Gallo White Zinfandel is good. In short, I want you to discover other products that will satisfy you and expand your horizons in terms of rosé tastes!

The Miraval Rosé: A beautiful rosé wine from Provence

Miraval rosé- bottle

The Miraval Rosé: Famous owners

This product was first known because of its famous owners, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. One might think they wanted to make an easy, sweet, affordable wine, in other words to make easy money, but no. By partnering with Domaine Perrin in Provence, the famous duo produced an exceptional wine! Even though the couple is separated, business is still going on at the Jolie-Pitt estate. Now, only Brad Pitt is one of the owner, but the dispute is not over yet.

The wine

Made of Cinsault, Syrah, Grenache, and Rolle. So this rosé of a beautiful pale pink color and brilliant. It reveals a very beautiful aromatic expression with delicate notes of red fruits, a complex bouquet of raspberry, white fruit, peach, and white flowers. On the palate, the terroir reveals, with an impression of freshness and balance, a good length, and a very mineral finish, saline and of character. In short, we are very far from Californian sweet wines, but closer to a wine that transports us into a universe that can make us discover another class of rosés!

Location

Issued from a selection of vineyards close to the village of Correns, just north of Brignoles in the heart of Provence.

Clay & Limestone vineyard, partially in terraces located at an average of 350 meters. Cool climate for the area with big temperature swings between night and day.

Ageing

The grapes are harvested exclusively in the morning and sorted twice. Destemming. Pressurage direct for Cinsault, Grenache and Rolle. The Syrah is vinifies partially using the “saignée” method.

Another Rosé from Miraval, Miraval Studio

The Studio by Miraval Credit: Normand Boulanger
The Studio by Miraval Credit: Normand Boulanger

Created as a tribute to the recording studio where Pink Floyd recorded ‘the Wall’, this wine symbolizes the spirit of Art de Vivre around the Mediterranean. Please note that the bottle change since this picture.

TERROIR

Studio by Miraval is strongly influenced by the sea sprays and the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea. These salty soils give the wine a unique character and an almost iodized finish.

AGEING

All the varieties are vinified by direct pressing. The Cinsault and Tibouren in Stainless steel vats. The Grenache & Rolle are partially vinified in tanks. This ovoid shape gives rise to a natural convection movement that suspends the lees creating the same effect as a batonnage and gives the wine a lot of structure.

TASTING

Seductive clear and bright colour of a very pale-pink with pastel reflections. All in finesse and elegance, the nose offers a superb aromatic bouquet with notes of small red fruit and cherry blossom. With a beautiful liveliness, the ample and racy mouth prolongs this refined character with seductive aromas of blood-oranges and redcurrants, perfectly balanced by the freshness of a pretty mineral structure and just a hint of bitterness. The long finish prolongs the tasty aromas of this fresh and elegant wine, with a beautiful balance.

FOOD PAIRINGS

Aperitif, salads, grilled dishes, Mediterranean cuisine, sushi.
