Today, September 9, Apple unveiled its Autumn 2024 product releases at its “Glowtime” event, set up to launch its new Apple Intelligence integration.

Apple Watch Series 10

Even if we prefer the mechanical watch, we can’t overlook the all-new Apple Watch Series 10. It comes with the largest display to date (bigger than the Apple Watch Ultra), 30% larger than the last model and the thinnest. This OLED display is specifically designed to be seen from all angles, with a brightness of over 40%, while being just as energy-efficient.

A new jet-black colour is added to the most popular watch line on the planet. In 30 minutes, with its new rechargeable battery, you can set off on a run with the battery at 80%.

Also, its new speakers let you listen to your music or podcasts directly from your watch, like the one on Gentologie On Air, but please don’t do that in public, nobody likes that.

Titanium is added to the Series 10, replacing stainless steel, a more refined expression of its popular watch. Also, the new S10 chip lets you wear your watch day and night, allowing you to determine your sleep cycles and detect possible sleep apnea (to be determined with your doctor afterwards). This sleep apnea function will also be offered on the Series 8, 9 and Apple Watch Ultra.

For water sports enthusiasts, you can see the depth and temperature of the water, as well as the different tides.

Apple Watch Ultra 2

What Apple refers to as its perfect sports watch becomes even more advanced, with its GPS even more accurate, even on a racetrack. With up to 36 hours of battery life or 72 hours in low-power mode. For hiking enthusiasts, it will guide you even better than before. What’s more, the new Apple Watch Ultra 2 will be made of black titanium. Not to mention new bracelets and dials by Hermès.

This new generation of the popular earphones, the fourth, is still in its popular design, this time improved. The H2 chip adds better listening, with Personalized Spacial audio. For Siri, it’s possible to make head gestures to answer yes or no. The case is now USB-C, joining the iPhone range. The 30-hour battery will let you listen to podcasts like Gentologie On Air. Conversation detection lowers the sound of your music when you engage a person.

Apple Autumn 2024 Product Releases: iPhone 16 lineup

iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus

This long-awaited new generation of the iPhone marks a big change for Apple, with its entry into artificial intelligence. With new colours (ultramarine blue, teal, pink), in addition to white and black, and its new, even more resistant ceramic screen. With its 6.1 ″and 6.7” screens, it’s designed for a better experience. It has an action button that you can adjust to your preferred function (predetermined choice) and a new button for taking photos. The new iPhone has a 48-megapixel rear camera. It also has a 2x telephoto lens and a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera.

Camera Control

This button includes several new functions. It lets you adjust zoom, depth of field and more with other applications. A new function lets you remove people or objects from your photos.

The iPhone 16’s battery is enlarged, giving you over 22 hours of video playback for the iPhone 16 and 27 hours for the Plus version. This adjustment also enables you to send text messages via satellite, a feature that will soon arrive in Canada.

Apple Autumn 2024 Product Releases: iPhone 16 Pro lineup

iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max

This new phone, Apple’s flagship model, brings a whole new experience to business users. As you might expect, it’s also available in black titanium, white titanium, natural titanium and desert titanium. The screen is enlarged to 6.3 ″(Pro)/6.9” (Pro Max), Apple’s largest to date. Apple also introduces 120 Hz refresh rate.

Powered by the A18 Pro, the updated camera system introduces a new 48-megapixel Fusion camera featuring a faster, more efficient quad-pixel sensor and Apple Camera interface, which enables video to be recorded at 4K120 fps in Dolby Vision—the highest resolution and frame rate combination ever available on the iPhone, and a smartphone first. The quad-pixel sensor can read data twice as fast, resulting in 48-megapixel ProRAW or HEIF photos with no shutter lag, so you can get the perfect shot right then and there… A new ultra-wide 48-megapixel camera also features a quad-pixel sensor with autofocus, enabling users to take higher-resolution 48-megapixel ProRAW and HEIF photos when shooting unique framing, wide-angle shots or getting up close to their subjects in macro photography. 

The powerful 5x telephoto lens is now available on iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, enabling users to capture the action from further away, whichever model they choose. iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max now takes spatial photos in addition to video, helping users relive their memories with remarkable depth on Apple Vision Pro. Apple adds editing and filter functions that are simply incredible. 

For video, in addition to the Action and Cinematic modes added last year, 4K120 mode is added in 2024. New control modes are added when taking photos, with the aforementioned new camera control button. The addition of Spacial Audio recording adds control to your sound recordings with the new “Audio Mix” function. Incidentally, The Weekend’s most recent video was filmed with the iPhone 16 Pro… and no doubt several software programs.

Battery life for video playback is 27 hours for iPhone Pro and 33 hours for iPhone Pro Max.

Apple Intelligence

With the power of generative models, Apple is adding Apple Intelligence to its autumn 2024 lineup. With data that’s not recorded. Search, inside your phone, gets better. Siri, too, is improving by being fully integrated into your phone, and even more actions and context. You can even create your own emojis. Available in Canadian English in December, and in French in early 2025.
