The Cadillac Lyriq on a pan-Canadian tour
We’ve been telling you about it for a while now, the Cadillac Lyriq will be hitting the roads in September 2022. It’s currently touring Canada and you can experience it for yourself (but you can’t drive it, though). Find out more about this magnificent vehicle.
IQ: Cadillac’s electric suffix name
If you’re like me, you may be confused about how to spell Lyriq (we know the lyric spelling) if we’re to believe the suffix—iq, as in Lyriq and Celestiq (pronounced “ik”, not “eek”), indicates Cadillac’s future lineup of battery electric vehicles. It starts with the Lyriq crossover, which we’re talking about today, and then the flagship Celestiq sedan in 2023 (more on that soon). The all-electric Cadillac Escalade is planned for 2025 along with 2 or 3 other vehicles according to a Cadillac source.
The Cadillac Lyriq: Beautiful and different
With a range of over 500 km (according to the manufacturer), the Cadillac Lyriq stands out from almost all other vehicles on the market. Its lines are spectacular, and someone who was visiting the Lyriq at the same time as me, saw a borrowing from certain European models for the rear end, for example.
The front grille is impressive as well as the headlights that set the model apart from the rest with their multiple LED lights, the new black and white logo that lights up. A superb evolution of Cadillac design with a touch of history. The door handles and the small U-shaped handle near the window that allows you to open the door are really well thought out details. If we come back to this touch of history, it is also revealed at the entrance with the famous Cadillac logo in cursive writing, it remains to be seen if the new logo will replace this one in the next versions.
Inside, the screen is impressive, at 33 inches wide, and easy to navigate. It’s a step up from the previous versions and it’s perfectly designed. It’s really well integrated and you don’t feel like you have a tablet in the middle of the dashboard like some of the competition. The steering wheel is comfortable and most of the various buttons are easy to access and intuitive. My colleague, Isabelle Havasy of The Car Fashionista, who was looking to tone down the immersive experience powered by AKG’s 19-speaker Studio sound system, found it in no time. And let’s talk about the roof, a panoramic roof that spans the entire vehicle. Even in a dark space, it was still quite clear in the vehicle. In short, I advise you to visit the vehicle to get your own idea. It will certainly be near you, as you will see in the next paragraph.
