The best places to celebrate Valentine’s Day in Montréal
Looking to pull out all the stops or impress on a first date? There’s no shortage of bars and restaurants in the metropolis to enjoy a superb romantic evening. Here, according to Gentologie, are the best places to celebrate Valentine’s Day in Montréal.
The best places to celebrate Valentine’s Day in Montréal: The Bars
Wine bar or cocktail bar? It’s often hard to choose, so we suggest both. And if we miss any, check out another wine bar site here.
Little Italy
Bar Bello
In Little Italy, this place is magical. Their specialty is Negroni, and there’s a vending machine for the famous Italian count’s favourite cocktail. For greater peace and quiet, prefer the banquettes.
Plateau Mont-Royal
Le Rouge Gorge
Perfect for the 5 à 7s (happy hour), whether for wine or cocktails, this location is incredible. For a more intimate atmosphere, the hidden basement bar (formerly known as Le Royal) welcomes you with its experienced team.
Downtown Montréal | City Centre
Le Flâneur Bar Lounge
The bar at Hôtel Le Germain Montréal, with its decor by Zébulon Perron, exudes a cosmopolitan, New York atmosphere. The cocktails are delicious, and you won’t want to miss the oysters.
Le Cloakroom
When it comes to intimacy, it doesn’t get much better than this. With seating for around 30 and a hidden entrance, the mixologists at this menu-free bar will guide you sensually towards elixirs that only they know the recipe for.
Le French Line
Here, the management team from the aforementioned The Cloakroom leads the way. But don’t worry, the menu of this place frozen in the past, with its incredible decor, is sure to give you a pleasant evening that will make you want to continue it at the Île-de-France Restaurant. Sometimes, the atmosphere is even more romantic, with a piano-voice duet adding its charm to the already romantic atmosphere of this space frozen in time. We told you all about it here.

Bar Le Vivoir of W Montréal
An excellent wine bar in Montréal. Further east, in Rosemont, more precisely in the Angus District, Le Annette restaurant stands out for its wine list, handled by sommelier Hugo Duchesne. The atmosphere is lively and rarely quiet, but you’ll make some incredible discoveries.
Town of Mont-Royal
Le Fou Fou at Royalmount
The Royalmount food hall will be overrun with hearts and roses on their first Valentine’s Day. An incredible evening of activities is in store. Singles, brace yourselves-you may not come away from this festive evening solo.
The best places to celebrate Valentine’s Day in Montréal: The Restaurants
Little Italy
Ratafia
Their famous “Anti-Anti-Valentine’s Day” theme (for those who don’t know, two minuses are worth one plus) is an ode to romance. This year’s theme is love, naturally. Their menu, a mix of local and Italian specialties (influenced by Little Italy), sounds exquisite. And let’s not forget, desserts are their specialty. You’re sure to have a great evening, and Cupid will probably show up between courses.
Plateau Mont-Royal
Cabaret L’Enfer
What could be more romantic than Italy, masterfully prepared here? Although the décor is somewhat minimalist and may seem cold at first glance, it leaves plenty of room for the kitchen, where you can admire the chefs. There’s something about the quality of the dishes and the finesse of the execution that makes you want to come back again and again.
Mile-End
Estiatorio Milos
If it’s the delights of the sea that seduce you, you certainly won’t be disappointed here (we’ve never been, but the good reviews are pouring in). It’s a classic and it’s delicious. The family experience is certainly a point of pride for the town. Want to be in Greece with your loved one for an evening? You’ll find it here.
Downtown Montréal | City Centre
Maison Boulud of Ritz-Carlton Montréal
Ah, there’s something so romantic about this restaurant inside the Ritz-Carlton Montréal. The service is meticulous, Romain Cagnat’s dishes are always perfect, and you won’t want to miss this opportunity to dine at one of Montreal’s finest restaurants.
Marcus of Four Season Hotel Montréal
The Marcus is festive, luxurious and, above all, romantic. Particularly the newest intimate formula, which we haven’t yet had the chance to try out. That said, it’s sure to make you want to take the Valentine’s Day experience even further! Let yourself be seduced by a unique gourmet menu, The Chef’s Counter Tasting Menu, prepared in front of you by the chef himself. Witness the creation of a harmonious taste experience thanks to the expertise of the Marcus culinary team. Create unforgettable memories with the talented Executive Chef, Jason Morris. Each bite will be imbued with remarkable finesse and warm hospitality. Push the envelope and book a room for brunch, which, as our photo shows, is breathtaking.
Ferreira
As we mentioned in our article on their new evening menu, “L’Après 9”, they have created a unique menu for Valentine’s Day. Whatever type of evening you’re looking for, they’ve got you covered.
Île-de-France Restaurant at 9e at Centre Eaton
I haven’t tried the restaurant yet, only the bar Le French Line, but I’ve heard nothing but good things, and the bar dishes are from the same team. Whether it’s the oysters and seafood towers masterfully prepared by Daniel Notkins, or the dishes under the direction of Derek Dammann and Liam Hopkins, the experience can only be very high, not forgetting the whole service aspect where Marco Gucciardi does an exemplary job. And let’s not forget the decor, which is as romantic as it gets. On the other hand, don’t forget that the restaurant is not located in the great hall as was the case with the first iteration of the restaurant, but in what used to be the waiting area, which still gives an incredible result of a stepping into another century, literally.
Bar George of Hotel Mount Stephen
Past-century ambience, delicious food and impeccable service. Bar George and its restaurant are a place where the charm works. Although on certain evenings, the DJ is present, making for a more festive atmosphere. Be warned, this is not a piano bar. . . unfortunately, because that’s where it belongs. They also have a wonderful menu for Valentine’s Day.
Jatoba
It’s magical here. Chef Olivier Vigneault turns plates into marvels. The work he does behind the counter is simply incredible. And what could be more romantic than a romantic meal in an Asian atmosphere with exceptional dishes? Perhaps add a glass or bottle of KRUG champagne, of which the restaurant is the Montréal embassy and certainly one of the best places to celebrate Valentine’s Day in Montréal.
Jérome Ferrer Europea Restaurant
I was lucky enough to try this restaurant in December 2024, when Moët & Chandon presented its exceptional cuvées (the latter is back as the official champagne of F1, after Ferrari sparkling wine held the reins for a few years), which I’ll tell you about again very soon. The precision of the dishes and the service, not to mention the kindness of the ever-present chef Ferrer, will probably make this an unforgettable evening. Make the most of it, as we’ve heard that the restaurant won’t be around for several more years, as the chef wants to move on.

Dorsia
We haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but I’ve heard nothing but good things about this restaurant, which seems to be revisiting old-fashioned methods. It’s refined, sophisticated and elegant. Take a step back in time with a hushed ambience that’s sure to rekindle your flame. Did I mention that the Martini sounds incredible?
Humaniti’s h3 Restaurant
I loved my experiences in Executive Chef Jean-Sébastien Giguère’s restaurant. Local cuisine (which is being celebrated in force these days) is the spearhead of this restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy, and the wine cellar is impressive. You can also enjoy a unique experience in the latter, but be aware that the temperature may be slightly chilly.
Toqué
This restaurant is simply a benchmark in Québec Province, whether for Valentine’s Day or any other occasion. Despite financial difficulties, it’s back on the scene. I hope to sit down there one day and enjoy the Toqué experience. All I can say is that you’re sure to have a great romantic dinner.
East of the city
Hoogan et Beaufort
Just a stone’s throw from the aforementioned Annette wine bar, this restaurant is a classic with its warm wood-fired oven and delicious dishes. The team, led by chef/owner Marc-André Jetté, will always welcome you with incredible finesse. The wine list is incredible. This restaurant has everything it takes to be one of the best places to celebrate Valentine’s Day in Montréal. And you absolutely must try the bread; it’s a must.
Westmount
Park
To say that Antonio Park is a great romantic would be to conceal the truth. Love of cooking, love of his parents, love of his children, the great chef and his team will fashion exceptional sushi for you on this evening when romance takes over. Start by sharing their salad: it’ll be an experience that’ll make you want to try his AP restaurant in Toronto too. . . if that’s where the rest of your weekend is headed.
Enjoy your evening and have a great Valentine’s Day
