You may know that we’re big fans of coffee at Gentologie, in particular, the Nespresso brand, (how could we miss the gentleman that is George Clooney). It is with a newfound happiness that we share with you the new coffee collection from Nespresso and Pierre Hermé, one of the great pastries and chocolate artists on the planet, who are teaming up for a collection of coffees, confections and other products to celebrate the pleasure of the encounter and the art of the everyday. It’s going to be a festive holiday season!

While the last few years have seen our celebrations reduced, at least in Quebec, it is with happiness that this collaboration brings a celebration of refined tastes and indulgence, representing the best of the best in taste.

While Nespresso has made a habit of partnering with artists for its various holiday collections, it is a renewal to see it draw on Pierre Hermé’s vast experience as a flavour expert, and offer us a magnificent collection that deepens the pleasure of the palate by savouring the shared joy we experience with our friends and family. This collaboration once again invites us to gather, discover and delight in gourmet surprises: from the visceral pleasures of tasting a new coffee or pastry to the laughter shared with friends, fuller stories are written with Nespresso and Pierre Hermé coffees and confections that bring the art of haute patisserie into everyday life, enriching both in equal measure.

A little more on Mr. Pierre Hermé

Conceived by the man known as the creator of Haute Pâtisserie, Pierre Hermé’s pastries are the pinnacle of avant-garde design, technique and refined flavours. Decades of experience, starting with an apprenticeship at the young age of 14 with Gaston Lenôtre, widely regarded as the father of modern pastry, have seen him crowned with the prestigious title of World’s Best Pastry Chef in 2016. With namesake shops and cafés around the world, Mr Hermé’s creativity and sophistication in gastronomy is unrivalled. His thoroughly modern imagination combines perfectly with technique to create the ultimate coffee for the most discerning palates – epicureans will revel in the complex flavours while delighting in the ease of use, all in the comfort of their own home. You can learn more about the great pastry chef here.

The collaboration includes six delicious coffees, confectionery and gifts. The festive season offer is completed with limited edition coffee machines and accessories to bring those special Nespresso Moments to your day.

Leading with a black single origin coffee from Colombia, the Infiniment Espresso, is sourced from the new supplying region of Tolima, where farmers mostly use natural methods and prioritize low-impact agriculture, benefiting the land and its inhabitants. The Arabica beans available in both Original and Vertuo as the Infiniment Double Espresso bloom with vibrant red fruit and smooth cereal notes, expressing an impressive depth of flavour and an elegant mouthfeel.

The Original espresso offerings also include two flavoured coffees: the Infiniment Gourmand Saveur Noisette, crafted from delicately sweet South American Arabica beans, begins with the unmistakable aroma of roasted hazelnuts flavour followed by sweet top notes of almond biscotti and delicate vanilla. The refreshingly smooth Infiniment Fruité Saveur Framboise articulates a smooth cereal aroma pairing beautifully with the alluring flavour of raspberries. Both of these inspire a premium pastry experience by declaring the same complex flavours one associates with Pierre Hermé’s elevated pastries.

When it comes to the decadent mug sized Vertuo flavoured coffees, the Latin American and African Arabica beans of Infiniment Gourmand Saveur Noisette reveal graceful roasted hazelnut flavours with top notes of praline and vanilla, while Vertuo Infiniment Fruité Saveur Framboise divulges the bracing tartness of raspberry flavour juxtaposed with the smooth cereal notes from its Latin American and African Arabicas.

No Pierre Hermé collection would be complete without sweets: to complement the coffees, the Infiniment Exquis 70% Dark Chocolate Squares, crafted from single origin dark chocolate sourced from the Dominican Republic, are delicately perfumed with the rare essence of Timur berries, which are harvested by a local community in Nepal, offering an aromatic profile of grapefruit, pepper and floral notes.

The Infiniment Savoureux Raspberry Cinnamon Biscuits are also available in the range, designed under Pierre Herme’s artistic direction. Intended to be paired with Nespresso coffees and bring new dimensions to the flavour profiles within each of them, the shortbread features dried raspberries and the warm spice of Ceylon cinnamon harnessed in a crunchiness that is a lovely foil to the inherent creaminess of Nespresso coffees.

It’s the return of the candles with the Café Noble scented candle, created in collaboration with French master perfumer Olivia Giacobetti and Pierre Hermé for a more lasting immersion in the festive spirit. The comfortable, sweet fragrance is inspired by the Colombian tradition of adding panela, a golden-brown raw sugar as sweet as honey, to coffee for a gourmet confection. With all the complexities and nuances of coffee, the candle features notes of cinnamon, vanilla, spice and a robust Arabica bean, and is presented in a reusable porcelain container.

The festive collection is complemented by this season’s popular Original and Vertuo Advent calendars, containing 24 coffees and a surprise gift for the last day. New for 2022, the Advent calendars now contain all three Nespresso | Pierre Hermé co-created coffees as well as favourites from the Nespresso permanent range, offering a different coffee behind each door for a delicious surprise on the way to the festive season, all presented in an exquisite box designed to be reused later.

In addition to the co-created collection, Nespresso also offers limited edition coffee machines, the Vertuo Next machine in Silver or Titanium gloss finish and its iconic CitiZ machine in Magic Blue, both of which can be used to create Nespresso and Pierre Hermé signature coffee recipes. The collection is topped off by the Nomad travel mug in Raspberry, which allows you to take the flavours of haute patisserie anywhere, anytime. Personally, I prefer the Touch cup, which is smaller but fits very well in all car cup holders, which is not necessarily the case with the Nomad cup.

The sophistication of Nespresso is matched by Pierre Hermé, the architect of taste, with coffee as the connector—a multi-sensory delicacy to delight the palate of everyone and weave links between generations.

The enchantment of gourmandise, the gift of conviviality: the Nespresso and Pierre Hermé collection has begun its arrival in Nespresso boutiques around the world and online since 18 October 2022. Like all shared moments, the collection is available for a limited time and in limited quantities, while stocks last.

The collection is back for 2024

Since January 2024, and for a limited time the collection is back with Infinitely Double Espresso, Infinitely Gourmet and Infinitely Fruity.

The Nespresso and Pierre Hermé collection is available online and in shops.
