Gentologie: a 6th anniversary looking toward the future

And yes, today, September 18, 2025, Gentologie celebrates its 6th anniversary. On this very date in 2019, I unveiled our new identity, giving birth to a project I envisioned as refined, authentic, and demanding. Six years have passed since then, and the journey has been remarkable.
This journey has not always been easy. The road, at times bumpy, tested me, but it also allowed me to grow and better understand what it means to create a media outlet that stays true to its values and close to its community. Every article, every encounter, every event has contributed to shaping Gentologie and defining what this company is today.
On this special day marking our 6th anniversary, I take the time to reflect on Gentologie’s evolution, to celebrate the milestones reached, to thank all those who have been part of this adventure, and above all, to share with you what drives us and what lies ahead.
Looking Back on the Journey of the Past 6 Years
When I launched Gentologie, it was in a rather discreet manner, very much in the spirit of a gentleman. At the time, the magazine existed only in digital form, and the website was presented in black and white — simple and elegant.
The first months were rich in discoveries and events. I will always remember the extraordinary unveiling of the Porsche Taycan at Niagara Falls, which happened a few days before our launch. Still with Porsche, I experienced the excursion to Mecaglisse for the Porsche Ice Experience, and again with Porsche, this time with the Panamera at the Fairmont Le Château Montebello during the weekend of March 13, 2020, a day that marked the start of an unforeseen context.
This moment, which slowed the entire planet for several months, required creativity and perseverance to continue offering refined content to our community, confined at home.

This particular period also made me reflect on what truly matters. I realized that people missed authentic connections with one another. Although this long pause still leaves some repercussions today, it shaped who we have become. Thanks to the contribution and loyalty of many of you, we were able to launch our first printed magazine, the Issue 9, featuring Daniel Craig as James Bond on the cover. In July 2024, we published Issue 13, but its success did not meet our expectations. This reminds us strongly that Gentologie’s success ultimately relies on those who choose to read, support, and believe in our vision. We sincerely hope to see the magazine take flight again, with a growing number of paying members, to continue sharing refined experiences and content with our community.
We also launched, and delay to relaunch relaunched, our podcast — from Gentologie On Air to The Finest Class — an adventure that demands time and energy, which explains why we are not always consistent in publishing.

I will always remember the many trips that marked these years: the Czech Republic to explore its renowned wines, then Scotland with Genesis to attend the Genesis Scottish Open and drive cars on the opposite side of the road, and also the southern United States, Colorado, and the Kananaskis region in Alberta. Not to mention my first two cruises: the first with Explora Journeys, the second with MSC Cruises. I will soon share the differences between these two equally interesting experiences.
Each trip, each local encounter — whether in bars, restaurants, or other places I attended for events — has been enriching and formative. These experiences reminded me that what matters most is human connection, generosity, and authenticity. I am not wealthy, far from it, but I prioritize refinement and excellence, experiences and elements that leave a lasting impression. And this is precisely what I have sought to highlight at Gentologie since its inception.
Readers and the Community

Even though Gentologie currently attracts around 5,000 readers per month on its website, I want to thank each of you for taking the time to read us, despite your busy schedules. Regardless of numbers: if you were all gathered in one place, the Wilfrid-Pelletier Hall at Place des Arts would be too small to accommodate you. Your presence is precious, and it’s simply incredible to see that you come from all over — Canada, France, Switzerland, the United States, the Middle East, Asia — to share this world with us.
I also wish to pay tribute to Gentologie’s paying subscribers, currently around twenty. Each of you plays an essential role: your support is like a friendly pat on the back, reminding me that Gentologie has a reason to exist. Thanks to you, this media continues to live and grow, despite financial challenges and administrative gymnastics. If you wish to join this adventure and contribute to its future, you can subscribe here and become part of our community of passionate gentlemen.
A huge thank you also goes to advertisers (The Dalmore, Genesis, Glenfiddich, Poissonnerie La Mer, Oysters & Caviar, Suntory Global Spirits, Clusier, Favuzzi, Sélections ŒNO, and PressReader), who have believed in Gentologie from the start and continue to support our vision. Your trust allows us to create refined, exclusive, and authentic content while maintaining the independence and quality that define our media. Even if Gentologie is not the most popular outlet in Quebec and Canada, your engagement proves that what matters is not quantity, but the value and impact of what we offer. Your support is essential to continue providing unique experiences and discoveries to our readers.
I want to sincerely thank all the individuals we have had the honor of conversing with over the years, who enriched our content. Your trust and generosity allowed us to share inspiring stories and unique perspectives with our readers. Each of your contributions added depth, authenticity, and a fresh perspective on the world of men’s lifestyle. Thank you for helping make Gentologie a space where dialogue and discovery are central to our mission.
I would like to give special recognition to our current and past freelancers and columnists (Marc, Jean-Philippe, Jean-Daniel, Michael, and Grégory), the true artisans of Gentologie. Their talent, curiosity, and attention to detail turn each article, report, and discovery into a refined experience for our readers. Their commitment goes far beyond writing: they embody the spirit and soul of Gentologie, bringing authenticity, passion, and depth to everything we share. Thank you all for your creativity, rigor, and loyalty — without you, Gentologie would not be what it is today.
I cannot overlook public relations professionals. Although our relationships with them can sometimes be bittersweet, they are often the ones who open doors to events — or decide not to. Please note that if Gentologie is absent from certain occasions, it is not always by choice… and unfortunately, it is difficult for us to cover this content otherwise.
I cannot conclude this section without thanking my family, whose support has been invaluable throughout this adventure. I would surely be scolded if I did not mention my mother, who greatly contributed to financing this project, as well as my cousin, a professional art director, whose talent and generosity were essential for magazine layout and the creation of Gentologie’s logo. Their support, trust, and involvement have been pillars that allowed Gentologie to take shape and continue evolving.
Gentologie Today
Today, Gentologie is a platform that, like many others, struggles to endure. What sets us apart is our vision: promoting a slower-paced world where each gesture and word is filled with consideration, and where respect for everyone remains the rule.
Although Gentologie celebrates its 6th anniversary, it is a unique media outlet, always seeking recognition. And I believe that, with all the divisions and conflicts we face — the Russian offensive against Ukraine, the attacks on the Gaza Strip called a genocide now, the removal of Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel from the airwaves, or closer to home, the dubious and costly 3rd-link project — we must unite to promote respect for everyone.
I rarely speak on social issues, but perhaps I should. Perhaps Gentologie could become a reference point, a voice speaking for equality and justice. This year, as we celebrate our 6th anniversary, it is an opportunity to take a new step and reaffirm our values: being a gentleman means ensuring every voice counts, regardless of salary, skin colour, origin, or religion, always respecting each person. Gentologie will never give a platform to those who place religious or other principles above fundamental rights, especially when restricting the freedom of children and women. It is important to remember that the “black tie” evenings that gentlemen revere were originally created to showcase women’s finest attire.
In the landscape of gentlemen’s lifestyle, Gentologie stands out for its refinement, depth, and modern elegance. Our core themes — gastronomy, watches, men’s grooming, travel, wine and spirits, and style — reflect our rigour and curiosity. Beyond trends and discoveries, what defines Gentologie is our commitment to providing a space where elegance, authenticity, and respect guide every choice, article, and encounter.
Moreover, major projects are underway to revive the magazine. I won’t reveal more for now, but prepare for something unique if everything falls into place as planned.
Ultimately, Gentologie is not just a media outlet: it is an ideal we uphold daily, a space where reflection, curiosity, and refinement find their place, and where each reader can feel inspired to live according to the principles of a modern gentleman.
Gentologie’s 6th Anniversary: Looking Forward
If you ask me what the future holds, I would like to see it with optimism, even if I sometimes tend to see the glass as half empty. In the coming weeks and months, our priorities will be clear: pay all our suppliers, grow our membership base (a little nod to you, dear readers) to reach a minimum of 1,000 members by the end of November, find new partners for advertising and sponsored articles (we await your emails), and welcome new faces to enrich our content (feel free to write to us).
Our most ambitious project is undoubtedly the new website — which I had hoped to launch today, but it is taking longer to finalize than I imagined. I am carefully building it, aided by artificial intelligence, a valuable ally when financial resources are limited. I hope this new space will become a place you will learn to love and explore, a location that is both clean and rich in content. It will be more minimalist in some aspects, while fully showcasing our new colours — green and cream — which elegantly embody Gentologie’s renewed identity.
We also plan to bring our G evenings to life: gatherings where gentlemen can meet, exchange on various topics, and enjoy a drink in a convivial and elegant setting.
Finally, we plan to launch our digital guides, highlighting the best places to visit in some of the most captivating cities, offering our readers refined and inspiring recommendations.
All these projects illustrate our ambition for the coming years: to continue inspiring modern gentlemen, strengthen our community, and create experiences that go beyond simple digital content. We invite you to stay engaged, participate, and share this adventure with us, because Gentologie would not be celebrating its 6th anniversary without you.
Ending this 6th Anniversary on a High Note: Hope
Like any entrepreneurial project, Gentologie has experienced, is experiencing, and will experience its ups and downs. You have always shown up (perhaps a little less than I had hoped), and it is thanks to your loyalty that this adventure makes sense. Even if I dream of selling more magazines, increasing website visits, seeing more newsletter subscribers, and growing the podcast audience, I am deeply proud to have built this project.
The foundation of Gentologie has not always been as solid as I would have liked, and that is entirely my responsibility. However, like any developing structure, it has been strengthened by experience. I am now focusing my efforts on finances — a piece of advice I would give to any entrepreneur: this is where your attention should be to ensure the longevity of your business — so that this adventure, which is so dear to me, can continue to thrive and inspire modern gentlemen.
And get this: the Gentologie adventure is only just beginning. Today, you and I celebrate our 6th anniversary, and I am convinced that the next six years can be even more remarkable.
Thank you, sincerely, for being part of this journey. Your presence, whether in reading, supporting, or simply following us, makes all the difference.
Here’s to a bright future together — happy 6th anniversary, Gentologie!
