OMEGA and Paris 2024: On Olympic time

OMEGA Official Timekeeper of Paris 2024

The countdown is almost over, the athletes are ready and the stopwatches are set to start. On July 26, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will unleash a summer of sporting action in the heart of the French capital, and OMEGA will be part of it! OMEGA and Paris 2024 are off to a flying start!

The Official Timekeeper of the XXXIII Olympic Games

For the 31st time since 1932, the Swiss watchmaker will fulfill the role of Official Timekeeper, recording the exploits of the 329 Olympic events in 32 sports. The Swiss brand brings over 90 years’ experience to its role as timekeeper, and will arrive in Paris with the most advanced technology it has ever delivered.

This will be followed by the Paralympic Games, which start on August 28, and where OMEGA’s experience and expertise will once again be called upon. The brand has been proud to time this competition since 1992, using the same reliable equipment as for the Olympic Games, as well as numerous adapted technologies.

A watch in tribute to the Olympics: The OMEGA Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition

Gold, silver and bronze medals are certainly one of the most emblematic rewards for sporting success. Today, the official timekeeper of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games unveils an exceptional watch in tribute to these coveted Olympic prizes, following the Seamaster Diver 300M Édition Paris 2024.

The OMEGA Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition watch integrates these three legendary materials in a collector’s model. The trio includes the 39 mm case, the latter crafted in OMEGA’s exclusive bronze gold, a radiant Ag 925 silver dial and slender 18-karat Sedna™ gold hands with a special bronze gold PVD coating. The design is a tribute to the sporting achievements with which OMEGA is deeply involved on a global scale.

The timepiece’s retro look is inspired by a classic wristwatch from 1939, which dates back to the brand’s early years of timekeeping. The latter housed OMEGA’s famous 30T manual-winding calibre with small seconds and bore the reference “CK 859” on the technical data sheets relating to the material and shape of the case.

Continuing this tradition, the tribute to Paris 2024 includes the engraving “BG 859” on the case back, again symbolizing the shape of the bronze-gold case. Known for its soft pink hue and incomparable resistance to corrosion without verdigris oxidation, gold bronze is OMEGA’s own alloy, enriched with noble elements such as 37.5% gold, hallmarked 9 Karats, as well as palladium and silver. Other notable features include the “Clous de Paris” motif in the centre of the watch’s dial, which has its roots in French craftsmanship and remains an authentic symbol of meticulous, elegant decoration.

The watchmaker then took the detail a step further with a brushed circular pattern on the minute track and small seconds at 6 o’clock, while the dark grey OMEGA logo is presented in the brand’s heritage style. On the wrist, the Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition is worn on a brown calfskin leather strap with a sandblasted bronze-gold buckle and a raised, retro-polished OMEGA logo. Last but not least, it would be impossible to make a timepiece for the Olympic Games without guaranteeing the highest standards of precision and performance. That’s why the timepiece is powered by the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8,926 calibre. This hand-wound movement is a modern homage to the 30T2 movement used in the past. A certification card, proving that each customer’s watch has successfully passed the master chronometer tests established by METAS (the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology), is included in the unique presentation box containing the timepiece, which represents OMEGA and Paris 2024.

In Canada, it is available at the OMEGA boutique in Vancouver. Order details here.
