Vertuo by Nespresso: For the large coffee lovers

While we see at Gentologie more and more research on Vertuo type machines from Nespresso, it was time to expand a little more on the subject. In fact, I recently received from Nespresso the Vertuo Next, which has newly arrived on the market, so it was an excellent opportunity to tell you about this machine and its innovative system.

The history of the Vertuo range

Let’s explore the history of the machine. In 2014, Nespresso introduced its most recent system, at the time under the name VertuoLine in opposition to the OriginalLine, now simply Vertuo. The Vertuo is the first Nespresso machine that made both American-style mug coffee and authentic espresso, the best of both worlds. The launch was exclusive to the US and Canada but has continued to find the line in several other countries today.

The difference between Vertuo and Original

The Nespresso Vertuo system revolutionizes how coffee is prepared by introducing Centrifusion technology, a technology unique to Nespresso. The intelligent extraction system offers an extremely high level of precision. Thanks to the barcode technology on the capsule, the machine recognizes each Grand Cru designed by experts. It adjusts the extraction parameters to infuse each blend most optimally. The result is a new coffee (8 ounces) or espresso (1.35 ounces) richly aromatic and intensely flavoured, topped with crema. Note that the Vertuo machine can make five cup sizes, from 40 ml to 414 ml, from espresso to coffee in a large cup.

So this was, and still is, the very first-time coffee lovers could experience mug coffee with crema. The latter, silky and generous, is a foam naturally formed by coffee and air. Representing unprecedented quality, it seals the aromas of the coffee and increases the pleasure of tasting.

Only the top 1 to 2 percent of coffee beans meet the rigorous quality standards to become Nespresso Grands Crus. VertuoLine features a new range of eight large-cup coffees and four espresso blends to please the most discriminating coffee drinkers. The range has obviously grown since the launch and includes more than thirty varieties.

2021 unveiled an innovative machine in the large cup coffee range, the Vertuo Next. The latter innovates in terms of eco-responsibility and offers “techno” features such as Bluetooth connectivity and built-in Wi-Fi, allowing its software to be updated automatically.
