During the year 2020, local travel has seen a resurgence in popularity due to the pandemic raging worldwide. Indeed, many vacationers hesitate. Now Club Med will be arriving in Canada in winter 2021 with The Club Med Quebec Charlevoix. I took the opportunity to ask a few questions to the Marketing Director for Canada, Club Med, Jérémie Hoss.

As the leader in all-inclusive mountain holidays, with nearly 20 Villages in the Alps, we wanted to be present in North America to offer our customers a new experience. Quebec and Charlevoix have major assets to launch our first Mountain Village in Canada: a unique mountain, Le Massif, offering an incomparable sliding experience, breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence River, as well as a wide variety of tourist attractions. Between Quebec City and the Charlevoix region. Consequently, these allow us to offer our customers constantly renewed experiences throughout the year. We also wanted a destination accessible for North American, European and Brazilian tourists, which is possible via the Jean-Lesage International Airport in Quebec City, located just 1 hour 15 minutes from our future Village.

Future Club Med Québec Charlevoix clients will experience an all-inclusive vacation experience unparalleled in North America. Indeed, everything will be organized for them in order to experience the best of mountain holidays in a single package: comfortable accommodation for 4 and 5 Tridents, gourmet catering, as well as a bar, open all day long, ski passes. Ski and lessons included children’s clubs more than a multitude of non-ski activities. The experience will then evolve over the seasons to offer new, memorable activities.

While we will offer a complete winter experience, the other seasons will not be outdone with dedicated recreation, showcasing the mountain’s richness at any time of the year. For example, in the summer, we will feature mountain biking, hiking, exploring nature, and more for all ages.

Will the Club Med Quebec Charlevoix be the same or different from what is done in France?

When you go to Club Med in the Alps, you first have an all-inclusive skiing experience to enjoy the most beautiful ski areas in Europe. Club Med Québec Charlevoix will offer a diversified winter experience that goes beyond the pleasure of skiing. You will have the opportunity to take advantage of the facilities allowing you to initiate you, among other things, in Nordic walking, snowshoeing or ice skating, etc. Of course, winter sports enthusiasts will be pampered by the mountain with the highest vertical drop in eastern Canada, in addition to a large expanse of undergrowth skiing, which is unusual in the Alps.

A typical day to organize yourself in this way: in the morning, after a hearty lunch, we start the day in ski or snowboard class, in the afternoon, to reunite with family or friends on the slopes. At the end of the day, it is an opportunity to take advantage of the swimming pool, the hammam/jacuzzi, and the Nordic spa à la carte. How is the pandemic we are currently experiencing changing the Club Med Quebec Charlevoix?

In our Club Med Villages, we have established the “Together in Safety” program to strengthen our health and safety measures in these times of pandemic. The various reopenings carried out since the summer has worked well, and this has allowed us to offer high-quality customer experience in complete safety. It is too early to say if we will apply them in this way at Club Med Quebec Charlevoix, but we will adapt for the opening. Finally, we expect to welcome more North Americans than our forecast for the first year of operation, given travellers’ reluctance to go to faraway destinations.
